fractional CFO with the right experience

From Analyst to Owner-Operator

Having experienced both sides – analyzing businesses and investments as an investment professional and actually running one as an owner-operator – I understand the unique challenges that business owners face. My mission is to provide the financial leadership and strategic guidance that I wished I had access to during my own entrepreneurial journey

Max Holvik, CFA

Fractional CFO
Max is a CFA Charterholder with an MBA from IESE Business School and 20+ years of experience in investment management and financial leadership. His investment career includes senior roles at Barclays Capital, Mellon Capital Management, and as Partner and Investment Research Manager at Private Ocean Wealth Management. He has directly managed $2.4 billion in equity portfolios and coordinated over 140 IPO investments across diverse industries.

Beyond his investment background, Max has hands-on experience as a business owner and CEO. He successfully sourced, analyzed, negotiated, and closed the acquisition of a training company, and then managed the business for almost 5 years. During his tenure, he led the company through growth phases and operational improvements, as well as difficult business conditions and complex financial challenges – gaining firsthand experience in the daily realities of running a business.

Max combines his analytical expertise as a CFA with the practical wisdom gained from actually wearing the CEO and CFO hats. He understands both the investment-grade financial analysis that businesses need and the operational challenges that keep business owners up at night. This unique combination allows him to provide financial leadership that goes beyond the numbers to truly support business growth and success.
